Scholarships Available for High School Graduating Seniors
Once again, Conservation Districts of Iowa (CDI) is partnering with Benton Soil & Water Conservation District (Benton SWCD) to foster the higher education endeavors of Iowa students interested in conservation and agriculture by offering scholarships. Iowa High School Class of 2021 students pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture are eligible for the Conservation Scholarship.
UNI names area students to Fall 2020 semester Dean's List
The following students from Benton County are among the students named to the Fall 2020 semester Dean's List at the University of Northern Iowa.To be included on the list, a student must have earned a grade point of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while taking at least 12 hours of graded work during the semester. On the 4.0 system, an A is worth four points; a B, three points; a C, two points, and a D, one point.

Garrison High School Included in New Book on Closed Iowa High Schools
A new book by author James Kenyon will be released in February. Echoes in the Hallways: History and Recollections of 102 Closed Iowa High Schools, is a collection of stories from student alumni of closed Iowa high schools, documenting 102 institutions from Iowa’s 99 counties. Kenyon consulted county historical records as well as interviewing former students and teachers, culminating in unique school profiles that include information ranging from the origin and growth of education in each county to sporting records, programs, and school traditions.
Iowa Lakes Community College Fall 2020 Honors List Released
Iowa Lakes Community College has released the fall honors list of full-time students (12 credits or more) who have demonstrated academic excellence by earning a grade point average of 3.25 (based on a 4.00) or higher.Fall semester students who have achieved a 3.25 grade point average or better are recognized by inclusion on the Dean's List. Warren Rouse Awarded NIH Predoctoral Fellowship

Kirschstein Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Award (F31). This award is to enable promising predoctoral students with potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist while conducting graduate research.
Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa’s Scholarship Process Now Open
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa’s scholarship application period is now open and students may apply for scholarships available through CFNEIA at www.cfneia.org/scholarships. The deadline to apply for 2021 scholarships is March 10. CFNEIA awarded nearly $588,770 in scholarships to high school, college, and adult students in 2020.
